For those of you that have your own domain, you may be interested in a new feature from Google. Chances are that your hosting provider doesn't offer a really great web-based mail system, and document sharing for partners and clients is limited. Wouldn't it be great to use Google services such as Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, etc. as a part of your website. They've made it really easy to do just that with just a couple hours of time.
Google currently is offering the following services for free to companies smaller than 500 personnel. - Google Start Page - Similar to the iGoogle homepage, this allows you to make a custom start page with widgets that are relevant to your company.
- Google Chat - Use google chat to keep up with your co-workers either within your GMail service, or as a Google Talk Download.
- Google Docs - One of the best web-based MS Office replacements. It still doesn't quite replace MS Office, but it will handle most of what you need, and allows everyone to use the most current document.
- GMail - Allow employees to create accounts with over 6GB of storage for free! All the power of GMail, with an @yourdomain.com address.
- Calendar - Schedule meetings, events, and important dates with Google Calendars.
- Google Sites - Build simple sites to manage information, almost like a free intranet, branded with your domain.
All of these can be configured (if your host provides CNAME modification) with addresses such as mail.yourdomain.com. SprocketWD offers the setup of all these features with your domain for as little as $100, or $50 with the purchase of a website package. |
